Lest we Forget.
Australian and proud of the achievements of our Defence Forces.
ANZAC DAY is 25th April
The Final Inspection

THE FINAL INSPECTION

The Soldier stood and faced his God,
Which must always come to pass.
He hoped his shoes were shining,
Just as brightly as his brass.

"Step forward now, you Soldier,
How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"

The Soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No, my Lord, I ain't.
Because those of us who carry guns,
Can't always be a saint.

I've had to work most Sundays,
And at times my talk was tough.
And sometimes I've been violent,
Because the world is awfully rough.

But, I never took a dollar,
That wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
When the bills got just too steep.

And I never passed a cry for help,
Though at times I shook with fear.
And sometimes, God, forgive me,
I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place,
Among the people here.
They never wanted me around,
Except to calm their fears.

If you've a place for me here, Lord,
It needn't be so grand.
I never expected or had too much,
But if you don't, I'll understand.

There was a silence all around the throne,
Where the saints had often trod.
As the Soldier waited quietly,
For the judgment of his God.

"Step forward now, you Soldier,
You've borne your burdens well.
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."

Hooah Guys

Now that I'm back recovered and sober. Agood day was had here in Mansfield. The Vietnam Vets contingent has largely out numbered the WW1/2 boys (as to be expected these days0 We had abut 300 at the Dawn Service and probably 400 at the march. Some of us Viet Vets are starting to show our age now too especially up here.

We did our bit had a quick drink at the RSL (which here in Mansfield they still have a slight problem with the fact that there has been other conflicts since WW1/2 Borneo and such), so we just all went to other areas to celebrate/remember

Gratz to whoever put up that banner on top of the website about ANZAC Day! Good work and nice gesture!

Some thoughtfull people in this ADF Team

Hooah!BTW... I have the chance to bear both Canadian-Australian Citizenship... so was a double pleasure to see that banner

(Ohhh... and CC, that looks like me driving my first round in snake plains the banner on your post... lol i unfortunately TKd a team mate...rofl)

I had the honor of marching in Sydney. I absolutely loved it, was a great day.

P.S. The chicks in Sydney seem to love the navy uniform

Well all I know is the chicks "appreciated" that I am serving my country. It's actually a good time of year as the military get praised and not hated on. Really inspires you to stay in the service and not leave.
