where there's smoke there's fire
here is the winner in a criminal lawyers award contest in the us.
a north Carolina lawyer purchased a box of rare and expensive cigars and insured them against fire, among other things.
within a month, having smoked his stockpile, the lawyer filed a claim against the insurance company.
in his claim, the lawyer stated the cigars were lost "in a series of small fires".
the insurance company refused to pay, citing the obvious reason the man had consumed the cigars in the normal fashion.
the lawyer sued and won.
accepting the claim was frivolous, the judge stated nevertheless, the lawyer "held a policy from the company in which it guaranteed it would insure the cigars against fire, without defining what it considered to be "unacceptable fire".
after the lawyer cashed $15,000 cheque, the insurance company had him arrested on 24 counts of arson.
the lawyer was convicted of intentionally burning his insured property and received 24 months jail and a $24,000 fine.
how funny is that, like i say "only in America"

some of the stunts the goverment pulls in america with scare tactics and such it doesn't suprise me.
did any 1 see on today tonight where a 16 year old female mcdonalds worker was molested in the store because of a prank caller telling the manager he was a cop and the gurl had stolen items.
she was strip searched, forced to give oral and anal sex to the female managers husband, do star jumps naked and other such unbelievable things and it was all caught on tape.
manegers husband was given a 7 year sentance and i think the manager got 4.
the girl is sueing mcdonalds for 100 million.
now what clicked automatically in my head was how could people let it get as far as it did, i mean any 1 with any common sence would refuse to strip search a 16 year old girl just because a guy on the phone said to.
the rest of that is just discusting and the old guy that did it is stupid and perverted.
its stupid people like these that give americans a bad name.
