ARMA II

Post by ADF-Jules »

Hey Guys,

with all the problems with AA3 especially the pb not working on most servers I have switched to ARMA II, till the problems are resolved although i do play a little when bored.

In my opinion ARMA II is by far a better game if you want a battle simulator with more options for different game play then ARMA II is fantastic, takes me back to Operation Flashpoint days but with exceptional graphics and the assortment of toys you can play with.

The game in coop mode is especially good with team work a must if you want to complete the missions each player can pick a specialist that have key skills to enable you to complete your objectives with bonus objectives that give you additional equipment.

Alot of guys in the clan seem to have trouble with AA3 and ARMA II usually it is down to the graphic card I run with a NVIDIA 9600GT which easily runs anything I have thrown at it with no problems and you can pick it up for $75.00 and I am sure some of you could get it cheaper.

Anyways if you don't see me around much it is cos I am playing ARMA could we have a channel in TS for ARMA although I might be only one in there ....lol

I have ARMA2 and its just as bad as AAO3, The last patch (1.2) was ment to fix the audio issue... Well not for me :( I managed to fix the blury graphics issue ARMA had, now I have a delay between my mouse and the computer. Objects appear out of nowhere and when your running/walking it makes you feel dizzy & sick.

Cant find a solution to the audio.
Solution go Control panel and change your audio fom 5.1 to 2.1 (Sterio Speakers)

Cant find a solution to the mouse lag.

Cant find a solution to the head bobing.
Solution Options > Game Options > Head Bob Slider

ARMA II

I have non of those issues comms works fine in game better than TS, can you hear people talking sniper??? some people have had probs with speak key not binding correctly.

only time things are out of focus is when running (only things at a distance) and periferal vision which is normal, no problems at all with mouse lag and im using wireless mouse and keyboard.

All good, I have found solutions for all the bugs apart from the mouse lag...... clicking defaults seem to have fixed it up a fair but.. tried a few things I have found on forums but nothing yet works. Il'll wait a couple more days... the audio solution only got posted today.

BTW We have a few ARMA2 servers running.

ARMA II SERVERS

Post by ADF-Jules »

Sniper I have played on the servers but they lack the map selection that most servers have that is the main reason they are not getting much usage......can you add maps??

If you can get the Domination maps by Xeno they are the best maps I have played so far COOP too, you can get east & west versions.

Glad to hear your getting yours sorted hope to see you in game soon MADOZ

Nice find Buny. I agree with most of it.

Too early too buggy.

bugs

Post by ADF-Jules »

99.9% of the bugs do not effect game play in the slightest they are more cosmetic ...it's not like pulling a nade in AA3 and then it not being there then 2 secs later u have tked half ur team [smilie=furax[1].gif] also the servers on AA3 are still buggy not being able to select open slots....though that could be a admin addition.

On the whole in it's current condition I would take ARMA II anyday ahead of AA3 I have not had so much fun playing a FPS game for many years.....where else can you have 60 guys in one game with a 50ms ping

Every game has it's doubters this is just my personnel opinion having been gaming online for over 15years at present any game will struggle to keep up with what ARMA II has to offer & certainly AA3 is back in the dark ages with being a supposed miltary simulator compared to ARMA.

The real test will be in November when the scheduled release of Operation Flashpoint II comes I say Scheduled cos this may change as it has over the last few years.

Erm, not being able to select Open slots in AA3... What I've found, is that during the round progression. You're stuck with what slot you picked.

The only time you can select a new slot/gun is at the end of each Map. Which is annoying, because half the time it doesn't save the loadout you selected and you get given a basic POS rifle that only has Iron Sights. Also, the loadout timer, is way too short, you have like, 5 seconds to make your decision.

we should try to hook up some lads and have a mess about one weekend. quite a rew of the FDG boys have got themselves a copy.

as to the games issues... i agree with everything said. arma 2, even though officially releaced, is still very much in beta. quite a few guys i've spoken to with killa gaming rigs are still suffering graphics lag. this problem is meant to be addressed in the 1.03 patch due out this august which consentrates on optimising the game.

currently i have seen cards as big as a nvidia 275 gtx and a 4890 still suffering with gfx turned to very high!

the potential of this game is massive. unfortunatly aa3 has lost another die hard to arma2 even though both games are as beta as eachother.
