Game Troubles..

Post by ADF-Snake »

It seems everytime i play games like Splinter Cell: Double Agent, BF2142, Crysis, Clive Barker's Jericho and other games like that,

During the middle of the game(s) it sometimes just might suddenly either crash (Shuts itself down), Reboot my PC without warning OR Give ever gamer's Worst Nightmare...

The Black Screen of Death (When all you see is a black Screen and you cant do anything about it)

I really dont know what's going on.. Either it's my PC or the games themselfs..

My System is as follows: (Thanks to XFire)
Manufacturer:
MSI
Processor:
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz (2 CPUs)
Memory:
1024MB RAM
Hard Drive:
218 GB
Video Card:
Radeon X1600 Series
Monitor:
Plug and Play Monitor
Sound Card:
SB Live! Wave Device
Speakers/Headphones:
Altec Lansing Speakers + Subwoofer
Keyboard:
USB Root Hub
Mouse:
USB Root Hub
Mouse Surface:
Desk
Operating System:
Windows XP Professional (5.1, Build 2600) Service Pack 2 (2600.xpsp_sp2_rtm.040803-2158)

Any Solutions or ideas?

Before spending money first just update all your drivers with the latest stable drivers. As most games are pushing your vid card to the limit I would be looking there first.Just because you might have the latest and best card doesn't mean it has been set up right.A lot of people upgrade and just slot them in and do nothing else without getting the most out of their card.Worth a look anyway before spending money you might not need to.The chances of all your games you play being corrupt is extremely unlikely.Check the capacitors on the card. Are they bulging or leaking. Is the card loose?Or any card for that matter.Try 3D mark or similar program and see what your card is capable of.It is a process of elimination. If you have all the latest drivers start on your hardware. If vid card works out ok move to something else until the prob is rectified.Gunna take time but time costs nothing buying parts you might not need is a waste.Anyway good luck. start with manufacterers names and follow their menu's
vid card if ATI.
http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html
Download driver thenUninstall video driver first before updating.Have a look inside your case for brand names or look in your settings I think it will tell you what card you have. The greater majority of pc probs are out of date drivers and mismatched settings.

Make sure your CPU or video card is not over heating.

i think i'm having an overheating problem too. my new cards have ram chips in each side and the ones on the backside get realy hot when i haven't got the side off and a standing fan blowing in. if i touch them it actualy burns. they have heat sinks on them but they dont seem to be enough.
