Burdekin Dam

here's a vid of the Burdekin dam over flowing. when this was taken it was 2m over the spillway. the week before it was 8m over the spillway and releasing enough water every day to fill Sydney harbor . at the moment its at about 130% capacity. since the rains started over 2million mega liters has gone down the burdekin river, refilling the underground aquifers and flushing the river system. if the wall were to be raised by 1m it would double the capacity of the dam however plans are in place (hopefully to be started soon) to rais the wall by 2m. The problem with this tho would be that the greedy buggars in brisbane and goldcoast would want a pipeline built to feed them. (over my dead rotting cropse i say) every time the government has tried to build new dams in the southeast they have been protested against by greenies and such only to be turned into housing estates and golf courses, so as far as i'm concerned they can go dry.

the sound you can hear is nothing to the sensation of it. there was this constant runble through your feet that felt like you standing beside a speeding freight train. we could hear it over 10Km away while we were driving there.

Ps. on our way home one of the CV shafts in my car colspsed while we were going up a hill . fortunately we had enough speed to get to the top of the hill where we had to call RACQ to tow the car and my mom to come and pick us up. so now my car is in Charters Towers getting new CV's and when its fixed i've got to catch the bus to the towers and drive it home

PPs. as you can probably tell from the above i'm very pro North queensland and recon that we should split from the south east and form an eighth state (Its the only way we'll ever get proper representation - when i was down in the gold coast on holidays we were driving to the sunshine coast on this smooth lovely strech of road (one of the motor ways) and past a sign stating that there was to be roadworks in the next few weeks later that night i saw on the evening news that it was to be re-surfaced this was the smoothest road i had ever driven on and it was going to be resurfaced we need pigo sticks to get through all the potholes when you drive from makay to cairns (that is when the road isnt flooded) and this beautifull stretch of road is getting resurfaced??? WTF

if Queensland split, south Queensland would be bankrupt in 12months. you have limited resources. we got mt Isa, Cloncurry, Wiepa, charters towers, Ravenswood, and a new gold and uranium deposit has just been found just to the north of Townsville and thats not the half of them they're all over the place theres all the gem mines in emerald that just got flooded all the coal mines. not to mention the horticulture we have up here. sorry m8 but it wont happen cos the government knows that if they let us split they loose all these resources.

ah all public schools in queensland have the same standard. in 2005 Kirwan high shcool had 5 OP1's the highest ratio of OP1's to students in the state. maybe the people of the southeast need to learn how to be kind and considerate. as i already said you can have our water as soon as our hospitals, roads and amenities are brought up to the standards of the southeast. then you can have the water as long as our farmers and miners dont suffer as a result.
