It depends on the drive speed.

I have mine on a second IDE Drive, I have noticed that it is a heap faster then on my SATA OS Drive "C:\"

I now install all my games on another drive.
Evolution is just so unlikely to produce complex life forms.

installing on a second drive is always a good idea as it can work with out being interupted but as for speed SATA2 Vs IDE = 600MB/Second Vs 133MB/second must be a configuration issue somewhere.....even the very first SATA drives where at leats 150MB/Second.

If you have a procedure of formating with any sort of regularity, you can export your regfile and, more often than not, you can avoid having to re-install the game. Works for me great. Also makes me clean my porn up when I install a new game and don't have the room :)
