might as well take advantage of your MB and get a 1333FSB CPU...Id get the E6850 it will beat the Q6600 easly in gaming...The Q6600 will be better at video slightly and apps that support quads like 3dsmax and other rendering apps.

EDIT: i should mention the Q6600 will be heaps better at 3DSMax rendering

but for gaming the E6850 will win hands down.

There is no real gain over DDR2-800 ram so dont waste ya money.....

E6850 has a stock speed of 3.0 GHz, which means it's FSB is 333x9 = 2997 MHz. With DDR2-800 you can get to 400x9 = 3600 MHz without overclocking the RAM

Those cards will take up 2 spaces per card so make sure the case is worthy of the job :P

other than that nice system :)

I plan to OC the Ram to 1333 mhz and the CPU. But really? the quad core isnt as good as the Core Duo in games???!!? no wayy.. it has to be. Plus it has 2x4meg caches! Is it, that it will only be bad in old games and not new game because they dont support quads?

UTIII is supposed to support it but people say it makes no difference....better of putting your money into something else...

cpu and ram FSB cant be changed only the multiplier can be

im talking genuine FSB

you have to remember CPU has very little effect on games its more the V/Card.

what other games support Quad....i have not been keeping up l8tly but none as far as i knew. or maybe fridge said something about a game supporting now.......????

EDIT: actually i think it was fridge that told me Supreme commander supports multiple processing now....other games say they support it but not genuinely

When im trying to asses the grahpics benchmarks i use 3dmark o6. Now this program runs heavily on the CPU- its FSB and speed, Ram - its FSB, and the graphics card.

Now comparing the q6600 and e8850, it seems in 3dmark o6 these were the same 3dcard and ram, with different CPU's and this is the mark.

Core 2 Duo E6850 (conroe, 3000/333, p35, 800) = 10606
Core 2 Quad Q6600 (Kentsfield, 2400/266, p35, 800) =11155

This a according to Toms Hardware.
