Seriously tho - Firefox with 8 tabs uses 116K and MSN is currently using 55K

I would suggest that you continue to look for Trojans etc. Spybot search and destroy is another free one that works for me.

Another place to look is inside your MSCONFIG. From the START then RUN just type in MSCONFIG. Have a look at the startup tab and, if you have time, search for the processes on google or write them down. There is quite often something which is loaded when you start which shouldn't. It's easy to spot a rogue process and is quite often the cause of the problems. Time consuming but well worth it.

Some more info if you like:
1. Adaware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/
2. Spybot http://www.download.com/Spybot-Search-D ... 89035.html
3. Housecall http://housecall.trendmicro.com/houseca ... t_corp.asp
4. CWshredder http://www.download.com/3000-8022_4-10301587.html
5. Stinger http://vil.nai.com/vil/stinger/

HiJackThis is another good one....go here to download it.

http://download.hijackthis.eu/hijackthis_199.zip

and then once a log is created go here

http://www.hijackthis.de/

and paste the log or upload it.And it will tell you any suspect process's that are running.....another good one is http://www.pestpatrol.com/.It is not free but you can get it....

when cleaning PC's i always use HiJackThis, Pest Patrol and Spybot.....they all have there advantages....

another idea could be to pull the cable for the nternet connection (or phone line whatever?) and see if you explorer process starts to die down....this could maybe help you find out if it's spyware or not....

also download process explorer to see which process is using what.
