AAO v2.8.2 Voice Activation

Note: There is reports this does not work on vista

First, download Microsoft's Speech Recognition Application: (This is the file you want SpeechSDK51.exe 68MB)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... laylang=en

Next You will have to setup and train the speech regocnition software. To do this in Windows xp go to Start > Control Panel > Speech

And in the new window that pops up, setup up your microphone down the bottom... "Configure Microphone"

You can also click Settings to change the way Windows handles pronunciation and accuracy and response time. (i didnt worry about this)

Next click on the Text To Speech tab at the top and select a voice...i chose Sample TTS Voice as it seems to be the most realistic.

Now select the Speech Recognition tab at the top again and select Train Profile

In this new window i recommend you do all the training as i have done 4 and it is still not quite accurate....

I have used this about 2 years ago for navigating around my computer...e.g start would bring up the start menu and stuff and it worked great...but i also did all the training.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Activating Speech Recognition Via The AAO Game User Interface

1. Start the game and go to "Main Menu" -> "Settings" -> "Game" and check the box that says, "Speech Recognition"

Note: You will need to restart the game after this.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Configuring AAO Speech Recognition Command Binds

1. Go to "Settings" -> "Input" -> "Configuration Controls" tab

3. Click on the action space under the "Speech" column and edit what you would like to say for that action.

4. Once you are finished editing all your desired key binds to speech - close interface and then join any game server and try out your new Speech Recognition Bound Commands. All should work fine!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Edit The Speech Recognition File Directly
(Make sure Speech Recognition has been activated in the game - see steps above)

1. Close your game completely (or all your work below will be lost)

2. Open up your aaspeech.xml file in an XML or HTML editor.
(Located in C:\Program Files\America's Army\Speech folder)

3. Find the following three last lines at the bottom of the file:
Code:

 </L>
 </RULE>
 </GRAMMAR>

4. Copy and paste the entire code below right above the last three lines in the aaspeech.xml file.
Code:

Important Notice: You may change whichever words of speech you want to say for each value. Just do not edit the action which is inside the quotes.
