Upgrade Dramas

Post by ADF-Muzz »

I have upgraded my pc to a P4 duel core 3gig with 1 g of ram.Usin the old vid card.256mb gforce 6200.I cloned my old drive onto the new drive after a format and would not boot up.I then done a system repair which i suspect is floored as the were a few files which it couldnt find but i dont think they were core files.I am now prompted to validate but are unable to do so cause i have used the disc too many time apparently.cause of this i am unable to download updates due to the OS not being validated. The start up is very slow but seems to opperate quicker than old pc once logged on.I cant scroll web pages very well, they seem jumpy to scroll. This system(MOBO) supports both 32 bit and 64 bit tech and the old OS was 32 bit.Could this be causing a conflict.MOBO model # is P5V800-MX.It also wouldnt boot up with the old HD fitted either.Any ideas anyone?   [smilie=bowdown[1].gif]

Remove your old motherboard drivers and install your new ones.

You can Validate any computer if you have a valid CD-key. You can transfer a OEM licence from one "motherboard" to another but only if your other motherboard blew up. All you do is call Microsoft and validate by phone, they will give you a new valid code its pretty simple if you get the letters and numbers right.

Also check your network connection maybe thats why you cant validate your copy of windows.

The screen would be jumpy due to your video card.
Reinstall your video card drivers.... Don't forget to uninstall then first.

The 32bit and 64bit should be fine.
Evolution is just so unlikely to produce complex life forms.

No worries sniper that sounds about right.I do have the cd for the mobo (which is second hand.) and will try 2nite.I did have some time restraints this morn so i just thought i would put it out there to see what I get.I tried to install driver for vid card but crashed straight away.I will reinstall mobo drivers.Disable onboard vid.then retry vid card driver. That should do the trick.By the way does Bill Gates accept reverse charges lol.

Best thing to do in that case would have been to format and install windows fresh onto the sysem. If you are changing hardwear its not a good idea to ghost the HDD as it will have all the drivers on for you old stuff. Which would be why you are having problems now.

My back up everything you want to keep and then reformat. Once you have done that intall the GFX drivers first and then work from there. It should run perfect. Invest in a 2nd HDD and keep everying you want on that as a back up. DONT BACK UP WINDOWS FILES.
