Preventing Spyware

Post by ADF-Deano »

It's the simple things we all forget or are just to lazy to do.....(i think it's an ozzy thing) :)

if you use xp first things first;

create a new restore point

1. Click Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | System Restore
2. Choose Create A New Restore Point  and click Next
3. Enter a description and click create.

Next make sure all critical windows updates have been applied by going to the Windows Update site.....

or firefox users can go here.  Click Here :)

You can block most germs using your HOSTS file in windows.Download the following and unzip it to your desktop.Open the folder and run mvps.bat this will create the new HOSTS file and backup your original one.

Download and install Spyware Blaster update and and enable all protection.

IE-SPYAD adds a long list of sites and domains associated with known advertisers, marketers,and hijackers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer. just download extract and run the install.bat file.and follow the prompts.

Site advisoris a browser Plug-in that assigns a safety ranking to the domains listed in your search engine results. A simple three color system is used to indicate the safety level of a website: red, yellow and green.....go figure.....install this....on the main page there is a link on the right to the firefox plug-in....(your using firefox....right)

ok go here fo IE if you must;

http://download.mcafee.com/products/SA/IE/saSetup.exe

now install spybot...update it and imunize it and do a full scan :)
